Our story
Kinmela started with a simple frustration: it was getting harder to find things made to last. So we began sourcing directly from small makers and workshops, buying in small runs, and keeping only what we would happily live with ourselves.
We are still small. That is deliberate — it means we can answer your email ourselves, and it means we can say no to a product that does not meet the bar.
How we choose
Every product is judged on three things before it goes on sale:
- Materials — what it is made of, and how that ages.
- Repairability — whether a worn part can be replaced.
- The maker — who made it, and under what conditions.
What we promise
Chosen, not curated
We buy what we would use. Nothing is here to pad the catalogue.
Built to be repaired
We stock spares where we can, and tell you when we cannot.
A real person replies
Support is not a queue. It is us, usually the same day.
